A Scotsman is driving round the coast of Europe in an eco-friendly van that runs exclusively on waste vegetable oil.
Antony Berretti arrived in Gibraltar on Sunday as he completed the latest leg of his trip from the French port of Calais to Brindisi in southern Italy.
Mr Berretti has vowed not to spend a single Euro on fuel during his trek across Europe.
Instead he relies on the owners of restaurants and cafÃ©s to provide him with the contents of their pots and fryers at the end of a busy day in the kitchen.
He spent yesterday touring the Rock and persuading friendly local restaurateurs to hand over their used oil.
He is pictured above with Roy Walker, owner of Royâ€™s Cod Plaice in Casemates, collecting 30 litres of oil which will end up in the tanks of his converted Fiat Scudo 1.9 Turbo Diesel van.
Used oil is regarded under law as a waste product and restaurateurs normally have to pay to have it collected and properly disposed of.
â€œItâ€™s not waste,â€ Mr Beretti said. â€œItâ€™s a valuable resource.â€
With this trip, Mr Beretti wants to generate awareness of practical, sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels.
Vegetable oil, he said, is â€˜cleanerâ€™ and cheaper than diesel, as some progressive countries have already discovered. In Germany, for example, drivers can even buy it from pumps in petrol stations.
And Mr Berretti insisted that such fuels are easy to use. He converted the van himself and built his own pressure filter â€“ essential when using waste oils - using what he described as â€œgarden shed technologyâ€.
All the materials he used were re-cycled. Even the van itself was saved from a scrap yard.

An engineer named Daniel Dingel, who used to work for NASA, has developed a car that uses plain tap water and/or sea water for fuel. The technology utilizes a mini-reactor in the car that splits the water molecule into hydrogen & oxygen, with hydrogen being burned off as fuel.The emission released out of the exhaust is clean pure water vapor or water- absolutely no pollution, in fact, it cleans the air. He now has 6 cars running on water, the first car drove out in 1969, over 30 years ago. When the electricity goes out, you are back in the Dark Age.”  With 500,000 known uses of oil including fertilizers (farms/food supply), medicine, computers, plastics etc., petroleum conservation is necessary and urgent. And former Reagan Energy Secretary Don Hodel says, ‘We're sleepwalking to disaster.’”
You may have read of several car manufacturers developing hydrogen fuel cell car technology. But these cars of tomorrow have had huge obstacles from appearing on the roads. Mainly because they are designed to run on hydrogen liquid not plain water, which then brings on the multi-billion dollar dilemma of changing every gas station into hydrogen liquid fueling stations. And car designs must make room for huge cold storage tanks holding enough hydrogen liquid for the customary 300 miles, making these cars difficult to design, costly to manufacture and some consumers fear, perhaps, highly ignitable. The solution to these obstacles may still be decades away, though we hope, will come on time.
Daniel Dingel seemingly have surpassed all those obstacles. By burning regulated ahydrogen as needed, the storage & combustible problem is minimized. By using tap or sea water, there is no need for a filling station. By using aluminum in the tank, he claims the car is not ignitable. Does Dingel have the solution? We can’t say, but this timely technology demands investigation, support and development.

We have started a New Energy Group in Byron Bay, Australia called Byron New Energy Group, or BNE for short. BNE Mission Statement
To establish a not for profit humanitarian group.
The group has a goal of love and selfless service to humanity at large, of researching, developing, publishing freely in the public domain for the good of humanity at large, and manufacturing, devices that use clean renewable energy sources that supply viable alternatives to those devices that use non-environmently friendly non-renewable fuels such as nuclear and fossil fuels.
Hopefully, a number of these BNE devices will be over unity (develop more power than apparently is consumed) by using generally renewable cosmic energy sources. In this way 'free' or very low cost renewable clean energy may be made available to humanity at large. This mission may thus fulfill a major requirement to enable humanity to move towards the Golden Age.
These devices will include but not be limited to making use of gravity, anti-gravity, electromagnetic, electronic, magnetic, water, hydrogen, oxygen, zero point or vacuum or radiant energy and/or cold fusion and may also include other potential sources of cosmic energy. The group will be formed by a core of active participating members who will be responsible for all group decisions.
The group will be positive and supportive and no coercion will be used and will encourage 'out of the box' thinking.

Intention My intention ( to the best of my ability ) is to remove some of the mystery, secrets, guesswork and plain misinformation that surrounds the construction of the " cell ". The aim is to help the constructor make a cell in a laid out, step by step, method that I employ to make my own cells. My knowledge comes from making the cells. As I have built many working cells, this experience has given me the knowledge, not by guesswork or reading someone's book or listening to second or third hand " expert " opinions. I now pass this information on to you. and it will always stay as my opinion and information until you build your own cell. Only then will you know how to make a cell, and not before!
Joe In approximately 1992 a new form of a generator was constructed in Australia. In preparation for this book, I spoke to both the designer and his fiancee, regarding my wish to give him the due credits, etc., for his 7 years of work and cooperation with all involved parties. Unfortunately due to the lunatic fringe and money grabbers that dealt with him, this poor, victimised individual has decided to relinquish any further involvement with the cell that bears his name. So in respect to his wishes, he will simply be referred to as Joe.
